Japanese Sesame Salad with Avocado

 

Ingredients:

  • 1tbsp sesame seeds

  • 1tbsp Kewpie mayo

  • 1/4tbsp white wine vinegar

  • 1/2 tsp soy sauce

  • 1/5tsp raw sugar

  • 1tbsp sesame oil

  • 2 cups mixed salad leaves

  • 1 x tomato

  • ½ medium avocado

  • ¼ cup bean sprouts

  • ¼ lemon

  • 1tsp wasabi paste (optional)

Method (serves 1):

  1. Dressing: Combine the sesame seeds, kewpie, rice wine vinegar, soy sauce, sugar and sesame oil in a small bowl, then mix thoroughly and set aside. NOTE: Make this recipe gluten free by choosing a GF soy sauce such as Tamari.

  2. Divide the salad leaves into portions (if preparing multiple portions), add sliced tomatoes and avocado, and divide the sprouts.

  3. Pour over the dressing, then add a squeeze of lemon juice, topped with a slice of lemon.

  4. Optional: Top with a small scoop of wasabi to serve.
